Contractor who was born in Mumbai and resided in Nigeria over seven years had a wide range of trips and experiences in the world of culture at an early age. She attended boarding schools at the age between 7 and 9 years old in London. Then her family returned in Toronto (Canada) in Canada, where she were raised for her entire life. Contractor had a great academic career at the University of Toronto Toronto while also training as the ballerina. She went to the Etobicoke School of the Arts. She had danced for almost 10 year. When she graduated from high school, Contractor accepted a scholarship at The University of Toronto to pursue an undergraduate degree in psychology and sociology. Additionally, she earned an advanced degree in theatre. Contractor was offered the lead role in Pericles following her one year stay at University. She was a part of the audition for the part in the Stratford Shakespeare Festival (Ontario Canada) and won. Her work was highly acclaimed in the 92 plays she appeared in. She was awarded the 2002 award for the most outstanding production of the Year from Canadian critics. The conservatory at Stratford is home to eight males as well as four females along with a couple of additional people to take a 20 weeks crash course. Contractor's participation in the next play-season was confirmed and she got the part of Hermia from A Midsummer Night's Dream.
